Our Story

After spending 8+ years working in public accounting, servicing small businesses, non-profits, and individuals from all walks of life, Christopher Hockert had come to a conclusion about what works in today’s accounting firm, and what doesn’t. During his experience in public accounting, Chris encountered clients from countless industries and sectors, enabling him to become an incredibly well-rounded CPA in a very short amount of time. He also noticed that while he was required to be present at every accounting firm, about 95% of the time, there were no clients physically on location. Yet accounting firms spend tens of thousands of dollars per year on occupancy costs. Why spend so much on a fancy office that only 5% of our clients utilize Chris would ask. He also noticed that affordable CPAs were getting harder to come by and part of the reason is how expensive those occupancy costs had become, leading him to launch Hockert Tax & Accounting, a low-cost virtual accounting firm where he is able to charge significantly lower prices while offering the same high-quality services other firms offer.
